Coastal residential development, Tallinn, Estonia

This prominent seaside location on the eastern approaches to the city of Tallinn has been transformed into one of the city’s most desirable residential districts following years of decay since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

PIN Architects rose to the challenge of marking the city’s maritime heritage which clearly shows in these ship themed apartment buildings.

Our thermally modified clear pine was specified due to its deep brown colour which has been preserved by oiling the panels after installation and also its resistance to rot. The rot resistance is created by the thermal modification of the wood which alters the cell structure preventing water ingress.
