The architect specified charred spruce cladding panels for this summer house project on the island archipelago south of Oslo.

The charred spruce cladding, made in accordance with the ancient Japanese wood preservation method of Yakasugi, is treated with Woca exterior oil which gives the cladding boards resistance to salt spray and the force of the Nordic winter. The cladding is estimated to have a life span of up to 80 years.
