Renowned West Sussex architects George & James Architects specified our Charred and Brushed Austrian Larch timber cladding for this garden room in the village of Ewhust in Surrey. Black oil colour was chosen because much of the wood cladding in Surrey and the home counties in general has a black oil finish which allows it to blend in with the surrounding architecture. Local planning authorities tend to look more favourably upon planning applications where wood has been specified as the main cladding material as it is closely aligned with the government’s Wood Encouragement Policy. A WEP required responsibly sourced wood to be considered as the primary construction material in all new-build and refurbishment projects.
Garden rooms make for ideal home offices and have gained in popularity as working from home has become part of our working culture. They can also be used as hobby rooms, guest suites or as playrooms for children.
